your calendar and make travel plans to visit one of the greatest
cities in the world! The 8th Annual Digital Storytelling Festival
is coming to San Francisco, where the roots of digital storytelling
began and the examination of the use of story, voice and narrative
in a digital world continues.
Home
to legendary icons such as fog, the Golden Gate Bridge, the San
Francisco Giants, Fisherman’s Wharf and a vibrant downtown,
San Francisco will provide an energetic, exciting and diverse
urban setting for this years Festival.
DSF8
(2005) will mark an important milestone in the history of the
Festival, by celebrating the tenth anniversary of it’s founding.
Digital storytelling has gained significant recognition in the
past ten years and the use of story continues to expand into many
applications with positive results and powerful impact.
The
Digital Storytelling Festival continues to place great importance
on providing a rewarding and enjoyable experience to all who attend.
The Festival will once again showcase the compelling projects,
inspired art and innovative technology that define and lead the
digital storytelling movement. The Festival program will be comprised
of featured speakers, panel presentations as well as audience
discussion opportunities and special evening presentations.
This
year’s premier sponsor and host venue for is Public Broadcasting
Flagship station KQED and the KQED Digital Storytelling Initiative.
KQED is a leader in delivering quality programming and thought
provoking information. KQED is a multi-media organization that
delivers television, radio and internet content that makes people
think, feel and explore new ideas. As part of the KQED’s
Education Network, the KQED Digital Storytelling Initiative is
a national leader in community created digital content.
The Festival will kick-off with registration and an exciting evening
of presentations on Friday October 7 – so plan to be in
town in time for the evening festivities. DSF8 will once again
offer hands-on digital storytelling training in the optional registration
Digital Storytelling Bootcamp Workshop. Two workshops are available
this year, a pre-Festival workshop will take place October 5 –
7 and a post-Festival class is scheduled for October 10 –
12.
